(wry smile) Is this the same guy who ripped me about Damien Dempsey? It might as well be, seeing as that the comment shows the same kind of inferiority complex (and the whole 'cheers' thing).
I'm still a little confused how one could 'squint' at a sound--the metaphor eludes me. It must've been from before 2003. After all, I'm so busy listening to my collections of Boyz-II-Men and Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears that I haven't gotten the chance go before 2003! My mind spins at words like 'doo-wop' and 'The Beatles'--they are so unfamiliar.
Just quit drinking hater-ade and lighten up. You didn't even mention what you think Dr. Dog sounds like. Shifting the focus onto the writer instead of the music just shows how uncomfortable you seem to be with music.
But you probably won't even read this because I have to assume you're a drive-by poster.

Uh, this band is about as folky as The Beatles. Which is to say: Kinda, if you squint, but not much. Might as well call them doo-wop because they invoke a few three-part harmonies. But I'm guessing that musical/cultural reference is a bit before your time, which I'm guessing begins around 2003. Cheers.
